I have a friend who lived in upstate New York who once told me that he would drive on weekends to hang out with his friends in Kentucky (the state, not a fast food restaurant).
For me, visiting a friend in Germany which is more or less same distance seems out of the question. To be frank, I haven't met my friends who are in Nottingham, Birmingham and Exeter because I think they are too far...
